Specialty Polymers

VYBAR™

NuCera’s VYBAR polymers are hyperbranched polymers. The physical properties of VYBAR polymers are distinctive and depend largely on the amount and length of branching. They are typically harder than other polymers or waxes of similar melting points. There are three product grades: VYBAR 103, VYBAR 260, and VYBAR 343 polymers.

CERAMER™

CERAMER polymers are formed by grafting maleic anhydride derivatives onto hydrocarbon polymers in a manner that adds high levels of acid and ester functionality without significantly degrading the hydrocarbon backbone.

Although these polymers have similar or higher acid numbers than oxidized products, they are much harder with higher melting points.

DIAX

DIAX 2770 polymer is a hyperbranched hydrocarbon polymer that is a liquid at room temperature. When used in solvent based coating and ink formulations, DIAX 2770 polymer promotes optimum surface quality by reducing defects associated with foaming. Product is suitable for use in polyester, PVDC, and epoxy based systems.

CHEMICALLY MODIFIED POLYMERS

NuCera offers two oxidized polymers that have been chemically modified. POLYMEKON™ polymer is a potassium salt derived from an oxidized hydrocarbon. PETROLITE™ WB-17 polymer is a urethane derivative of an oxidized synthetic polymer. POLYMEKON polymer is also available in a ground form, POLYMEKON T60N polymer. This form allows easier incorporation into liquid and powder systems.

OXIDIZED POLYMERS

NuCera’s oxidized polymers offer low molecular weight polymers with unique chemical and physical properties. Chemically these products contain oxygenated functional groups such as acids, esters, and alcohols. These functional groups facilitate water emulsification and also improve solvent solubility as compared to inert polymers. Physical property characteristics include a range of melt points, hardness levels and melt viscosities.
